Well done to Louise Doyle who participated in her first chess event last weekend, the Spring edition of the Co Wexford Primary Schools Competition. Louise acquitted herself very well and is looking forward to the next competition in Gorey (date to be announced). We got a happy snap of Louise (on left) with friends Leana and Lucas.

Thanks to Piercestown National School for laying out the red carpet for us today as we played our annual “Spring Friendly”. It was the usual relaxed occasion with competitive instincts very much taking a back seat. We look forward to welcoming Piercestown in for a return match in the next couple of weeks.

Remember chess for children every Wednesday afternoon at Wexford Library (3.15-4pm for beginners and younger children, 4-5pm for those with some knowledge of the game and older children). It’s free and it’s fun! You get to play against children that may be better than you – great for developing your game. They usually have a qualified chess instructor, or at least a relatively highly ranked player, on hand for the second session.
